About Just Right
In a modern twist of some old fairy tales, we find a neo-noir story in the dark, dingy alleys of a fictious Big Apple, populated by the likes of the Big Bad Wolf, Red Riding Hood and Goldilocks like you’ve never seen them before. A woman is murdered behind a shady strip club, and our hero races to uncover the murderer and the plot behind it.
History of the tale: This story was started in 2014 by four writers, each delivering one of the characters. Valerie wrote Gretel; James wrote Ivan; Tomi wrote Goldi; and I wrote Wolfe. For whatever reason we never finished the story, and it lingered in my Google Drive for some time, but I decided earlier this year to bring it back and finish it myself.
In the gritty depths of the Lower East Side of Manhattan, a man named Wolfe, haunted by his own demons, finds himself caught in a web of darkness and despair. A cop with a tarnished past, his anti-social and psychotic tendencies are rooted in the traumatic experiences he faced in the field. Consumed by anger, he commits a horrifying act, killing his lover, Red, in a moment of uncontrolled rage.
What follows is a descent into madness as Wolfe’s shattered psyche drives him to do whatever it takes to discover the murderer and make him, or her, pay. The once-intimidating cop begins to crumble, humbled by his own actions and the consequences he faces. With the weight of his past and the consequences of his actions closing in on him, Wolfe must confront the haunting truth and face the consequences of his deeds.
In this gripping serial noir, the boundaries of reality and delusion intertwine, painting a vivid portrait of a tormented soul seeking redemption. Can Wolfe overcome his fractured psyche and find a glimmer of hope, or will the darkness consume him entirely as he is led away to face the consequences of his murderous act?
