Introducing The Fictional: After Dark

I launched a new Substack a few weeks ago called The Fictional: After Dark.

I was writing erotica on Medium back in 2022 and 2023, and then I moved off of that platform because I didn’t like the feel of it. So, I’m kicked off this new site, and I’m hoping to both repost some older work and continue with some newer work. Figured I would do a little rundown of what’s already there and what’s planned.

In response to some writing prompts on Medium back in those days and as a response to some images I found on the web a few times, I delivered a few one-off or two-part stories that I had a lot of fun with. One you can find on Substack now is called “Red Panties.” It’s about a sexual fantasy gone wrong. It’s pretty hardcore but has a soft side, too. Another story I wrote that was written as a response to a story someone else wrote was called “Free Sex Cards.” It was about a woman who’d left cards around London offering anyone who found them free sex. “Flying High” was a fun story about the First Daughter who had a naughty and rebellious side. Just last night, I responded to a writing prompt called “Driver” and finished it with a story about a young woman who gets in the car with her Uber driver and makes her driver an offer he can’t refuse. I had a good time writing that one because a) it was a spur-of-the-moment write, b) I got a really good feel for it about halfway through, and c) I enjoyed going back through the story during a quick edit and changing it all to present tense with shorter sentences to make it feel more immediate and fast. Here are the images for those stories:

What’s next?

Well, for one, I’m bringing back the story of a young woman and the man she’s dating, called “Little Black Dress.” I don’t know if I ever wrote up a premise or synopsis for that story, but it’s a serialized fiction in nine parts that I wrote on the fly. I don’t think I even knew where it was going, but it ended well, and the journey was half the fun. It’s a story of submission, and while I considered taking it further, I decided that after part nine, it was done.

There’s already another series going on the page anyway. It’s called “The River,” and it’s got its own section on Substack. I originally intended it as a novella or something like that, but it will run in episodes, not chapters. I’m particularly fond of the serialized fiction method of writing, and that has admittedly been my go-to for many projects. The River will follow the trials and tribulations of Caroline Fontaine, a once affluent housewife in the luxurious Garden District of New Orleans. Following her husband’s disappearance, Caroline is thrust into a harsh reality, facing choices she never dreamed she would have to make. She turns to an acquaintance who seems willing and helpful, but he demands a price — Caroline must surrender herself to a him and give more of herself than she's ever been willing to give to anyone.

It’s a story of survival, hard choices, growth, and renewal. But it’s also a story of betrayal. And finally, it’s a story of submission and sacrifice. A kinky story that takes Caroline to places she never dreamed she would go.

I’ve got the whole story mapped out — loosely, which means it may take some twists and turns that I didn’t expect, but it feels pretty solid. Caroline is in for a dark, dirty journey, but she comes out the other side the better for it — at least I think so. There’s a solid twist at the end that I just came up with, and I think it really brings a lot to the story and to her character. The first couple of parts are published already here: The River.

There’s a lot more, as you can imagine, because I started writing erotica a few years ago. I’ve got a lot of stories completed, and some of them are only partly done. I mean “partly” because I complete the series, but I’m already imagining a sequel. For other stories, I haven’t even begun. And not all of it will be erotica. Some will be more romantic, which is what I felt “Driver” (above) was. Some of the series are hardcore BDSM reads.

For the more fun, not quite hardcore stuff, I’m imaging “Wanderlust”, the adventures of a young influencer couple who get into trouble in southeast Asia, trouble that rekindles their love. In “The Adventures of a Wedding Crasher,” I’m thinking of a bunch of one-off run-ins with an older women who’s bored and crashes a wedding in New York City, then decides to make that her thing. But for the harder stuff, there’s “The Too True Tale of Taylor’s Tawdry Tumble,” the story of a young woman who bullies her way through life until she meets her match. In F.U.C.K., a woman in her 30s decides to throw caution to the wind and give herself away to be used as a sex toy for the summer. That story has one “season” of about eight episodes, but I have four more seasons in mind as she goes through all sorts of trials, finding herself, finding herself in trouble, and then perhaps finding her way out. It started off as just a hardcore sex romp, but since I’ve had time to think about it, it’s gotten much more sophisticated as a story. And somewhere on the harder side is “Miss Taken,” the story of a man who loses his wife at a party.

Oh, and I almost forgot “What She Wanted,” which I finished in about eight episodes, but I feel like there’s more to the story.

That’s it so far, but that’s a good enough start to keep me busy writing erotica when I’m not writing everything else. Hopefully, you will take a gander, like what you see, and stick around. It’s going to get a little hot in here.

The Fictional: After Dark — it’s going to be fun!
