February’s Writing To-Do List
Just checked off the review of “The Last Flight of the Starleap” by posting on Goodreads here: SJ Stone’s Review of Starleap.
Let’s look at the rest of the checklist and go through it quickly:
Figure out weekend writing plan — okay, I updated the checklist today, so there we go!
Write Substack newsletter — I write the newsletter for The Fictional every other week, and this is every other week, so it will be filled with more info based on this list.
Put all of Just Right into one document — this is done, and now I’m doing some final formatting edits to get the entire thing set up for publishing. Can you read the entirety of Just Right on my blog for free? Yes, but I want it in a book for myself, preferably a hardcover.
Add final episodes of Just Right to the website — I’ll be doing that today.
Create one new audio or video from a WIP — I’ve been creating audios of a funny erotica piece, entitled Plot Twist, in parts. I’ve published Part 1 and Part 2, and I think I’ve created the audio for Part 3 already. So, I just have to work on Part 4, the final part.
Finish part 7 of Sip, Swallow & Scream, which is a fun, paranormal-themed Sesame Swallow murder mystery in about 10 parts that I’ve been working on for a while. There are number of excerpts and teasers out there already, but in essence, Sesame and friends journey to the fictional Ravenwood, Pennsylvania, a sleepy little village that celebrates Halloween year round, and at the end of their ghost tour on the first night, the guide is found murdered. At in some Edgar Allan Poe themes, an unpublished Poe manuscript, ghostly ciphers that are unraveled into cryptic poems, and a range of potential suspects, and we have a fun little mystery that everyone can enjoy.
Finish Sesame Swallow chapter 8 — this is the next chapter of the first Sesame Swallow, Private Investigator novel I’m writing, and rewriting.
Finish Part 6 of Sesame Swallow and the Missing Key — in this erotic murder mystery, Sesame is up against a wall, trying to figure out who in the family is the murderer. When a wealthy patriarch is found murdered right before he reveals which sibling will inherit the largest whiskey distilling business on the East Coast, Sesame goes into action, only this time it’s a little more under-the-covers than undercover, if you know what I mean. Really, what’s a faster way to get to know someone than to get them naked?
Write chapter 7 of The River — this erotic romance serial takes place in steamy New Orleans. When a woman loses everything to an unfaithful husband caught up in organized crime, she must turn to someone for help. In steps, Ethan Kingfisher, a local business tycoon and friend of the family, who’s willing to help Caroline survive what’s coming if only she gives herself to him utterly. The River is a serialized erotic novel of self-discovery and self-determination. How will Caroline survive? What will she be forced to become?
Write part 5 of P.U.G.H — this is another erotic tale, darker and harder than The River, that I started on a whim. An older woman faces off against her arch-rival in a battle of sexual dominance and submission. It’s a serial about a shocking choice, searing regret, and ultimately, acceptance and submission.
Watch Season One of the The Three Musketeers — on Prime Video via Bravo, this British serialized version of Alexandre Dumas’ famous trio, or quartet, of musketeers comes alive in a very entertaining way. Nearly as good as the two Musketeer movies staring Michael York from the 70s (but less campy), we notice last night that there’s already a Season Two, which explores all new territory. Totally worth the watch.
Go to bed early — eh, doing okay at that so far, but it’s hard since I’m a night writer.
Read the rest of Martha Wells’ Murderbot novel — I started this back in 2023 and put it down, but I don’t like things half done. It’s okay so far, but I struggle to stay engaged. In the end, I’ll write a review on Goodreads, but clearly it’s not going that well. Nevertheless, the Wells’ Murderbot series has really taken off with readers.
And that’s it. More to come, but I’ve got a lot of checks to mark off!
